Where did the Murdock's last name come from?

Murdock is Gaelic in origin and thought to come from either Ireland or Scotland. It comes from a combination of the Gaelic words "Muiredach", a derivative of "muir" which meant "belonging to the sea", and "Murchad", meaning "sea-warrior".

What does Ireland's Muiredach's Cross depict?

Like so many stone monuments such as the Muiredach cross, contain reliefs which depict a story or several stories in the panels of the monument. This cross and its relief tell the story of Israel and the Messiah. The Muiredach cross is set upon a Celtic Cross. There are two panel sets .. one facing east and the other facing west. As most know the sun rises in the East and sets in the West. Therefore one would assume their timing to be related to the rising and setting of the sun however they are actually right round the other way, depicting Israel to Christ crucifixition on the West side and Christ as king on the East side. This might be because the return of Christ is foretold to come from the East (Matthew 24:27)
