The United States has always demanded that North Korea engage in six-party talks (US, N Korea, S Korea, Japan, China, and Russia) in order for the other countries to limit North Korean demands and come to a regional consensus. The North Koreans think that if they are crazy enough, the USA will give into their demands.

China will also step in and aid North Korea by cutting off trade to the US and readying their nukes to fire on South Korea, Japan or the US.
