Rabia Basri is known as "half qalandar" because of her unparalleled devotion and mystical experiences that were characteristic of qalandars, who were wandering Islamic mystics. Despite not being a qalandar by profession or traditional definition, her spiritual status and feats were deemed to be on par with those of qalandars, hence the title "half qalandar."
