Yes, Maddox married Amelia, the daughter of Benjamin Winn Ford, Esq of Constantinople in 1849. Amelia died in 1871, and Maddox remarried in 1875, this time to Agnes, the daughter of George Sharp, Esp. of Newport, Isle of Wight. Agnes survived Maddox, who died in relative poverty on Sunday May 11, 1902 in Portwood, Southampton, England.
He first introduced, in 1871, the alternative way of dry plates to photography. Wich was more convinient to phographers, letting the process of preparation of plates focused by manufacterers.
