No.
the first 2 men on the north pole were Matthew Henson and Robert perry. but the first man to step foot on the north pole was Matthew Henson, he was 45minutes ahead of Robert perry meaning he stepped on the north pole 45minutes before Robert perry did. an amazing fact HUH?
The news that Robert E. Peary had anticipated him in reaching the North Pole caused Amundsen to consider going south. He didcided to go south because that was were Robert E. was going to go next and Amudsen didnt want him to explore the north pole and Antarctica.
It was Rear Admiral Robert Peary in 1909
By developing his early interest in exploring the outdoors and by pursuing an education and careersupportive of successful exploration, Robert Edwin Peary (May 6, 1856 - February 20, 1920) became an explorer.Specifically, Peary was born in Cresson, Pennsylvania. But shortly after his birth, his family moved to the much more rustic Maine. There, Peary developed friendships with neighborhood boys who liked to spend their free time exploring, hiking and sailing. In 1873, Peary began civil engineering studies at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. One of the College's faculty members, Professor Vose, challenged his students to think of ways to be first to reach the North Pole. So by the time of graduation in 1877, Peary had the necessary scientific training to turn his outdoor and polar interests into money-making and fame-achieving endeavors. But it was not until 1886 that Peary was able to carry out his first important explorations. In that year, and over the ensuing five years, he explored Greenland by dog sled. The experience gave him considerable knowledge of and preparation for the harsh conditions that he subsequently would find during his Arctic explorations in the 20th century.
Robert was a person who inspired matthew Henson to go to the north pole
