The Royal Air Force (RAF) was formed in April 1918, towards the end of World War I. By the war's conclusion in November 1918, approximately 300,000 personnel had served in the RAF and its precursor organizations, the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS).
