The first episode was a one-off special called Invasion of the Bane which was aired on 1st January 2007. The first series later started in Autumn that year.
'Invasion of the Bane' was only a trial they wanted to see how many veiwers they got to see if it would be worth launching. This is why they look a lot younger in the trial than the first episode
