some think he was, but we have nothing to prove it. also some think that Shakespeare was gay and had a relationship with one of his actors. Since back them.. all women parts WERE played by women. Like i said we don't know that for a fact but that's what some think. But we do know for a fact that he was married to Anne Hathaway.

Few details of Shakespeare's love life are actually known. At 18, he married the 26 year old Anne Hathaway, who was pregnant. However, the twenty six "Dark Lady" sonnets, addressed to a 'married woman', are sometimes taken as evidence of an extra-marital love affair.

There are no hard facts about that. We know Shakespeare had three children with his wife, and that he left her his second best bed, but what that means is debatable. He may have had a mistress who is reflected in the Dark Lady of the Sonnets. Some speculate that, if real, she was a Jewish musician from Venice who, when pregnant, was married off to a man named Lanier, but this is only surmise. Others speculate that based on the sonnets to a young man, he may have been a homosexual or ambisexual, but, again, that is only speculation.

Well for one thing, no one knows for sure. There was a rumor of a Mrs. Sarah Shakespeare, but the one married to William was Mrs. Anne Shakespeare nee Hathaway.
