Euro is official and only currency of Slovakia after adopting it at 1st January 2009. Slovak Koruna, previous currency, is not valid since that date.

Euro isn't official currency there, but many large shops everywhere and even the smaller ones in cities like Prague do accept Euros.
From 1.1.2009 the official Slovak currency is Euro. The former currency was Slovak Crown.

The unit of currency that would be proper to bring to Europe would be the Euro (i.e. €). The Euro is the "official" currency of 17 out of the 27 members in the European Union. The countries following accept the Euro: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain. The Euro is also accepted in: Montenegro, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Kosovo, and the Vatican City (It's not considered a part of Italy).
