Yellowstone is the world's first national park, established March 1, 1872. Yellowstone was established by an act of Congress and the signing into law by President Ulysses S. Grant to create the world's first national park and continues today to be known for the abundant wildlife that live there and as the home of over half of the world's geysers.

Yellowstone National Park was established by an act of Congress and the signing into law by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872. It spanned the territories of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. 96% of the park resides in Wyoming, 3% in Montana, and 1% in Idaho. Today there are five entrances into the park: three in Montana (Gardiner, Silver Gate, and West Yellowstone) and two in Wyoming (near Cody and from the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway).

In 1872, the United States Congress passed the Yellowstone National Park Act that created Yellowstone National Park. The legislation was proposed to the U.S. Congress by Ferdinand V. Hayden; the bill passed and was signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872.

it was made geologically over millions of years ago, but was turned into a national park in 1871. It was the first national park even though Yosemite was the first land to be set aside for public use and preservation, Yellowstone beat it to the punch in becoming a national park.
