Acid rain is an ongoing problem.

It will continue to exist until emissions of SOx and NOx are totally controlled.

However, some emissions of this nature occur naturally (forest fires an volcanic eruptions) so the condition will continue. These natural emissions are probably withn the natural coping mechanisms f the environment.
