This website (http://www.james.com/beaumont/dr_life.htm) mentions Beaumont making Alexis fasting saying that Beaumont then removed gastric juice from Alexis so I can only presume that Beaumont made Alexis fast so that there where no chemicals in the gastric juice for his experiments.
