Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk used to be in a Indie Rock duo with a school mate named Laurent Brancowitz, their trio was named " Darlin' ". They received a negative review from a music magazine called "Melody Maker" calling them "a bunch of daft punk", the group didn't take it seriously though, they treated it as a joke, but soon after there group disbanded and Thomas and Guy-Manuel created Daft Punk in 1993 and started experimenting with samplers and drum machines.
