Genesis 17.
He made a covenant with god.
Nothing. God just chose him, which is a testament to God's grace. He did not make Abraham important because of a special past or a unique talent.
I believe this is the convenant that God made with Abraham to make of Abraham's family a great nation.
God promised to make Abraham into a great and blessed nation (Genesis ch.12). See also:Abraham's biographyThe covenant
In the covenant with Abraham, God made seven key promises: He promised to make Abraham the father of a great nation, to bless him and make his name great, to make his descendants numerous like the stars, to give the land of Canaan to his offspring, to be their God, to bless those who bless Abraham and curse those who curse him, and that through Abraham, all the nations of the earth would be blessed. These promises underscore God's commitment to Abraham and his lineage, establishing a foundational relationship for the Israelites.
According to the Old Testament Abraham was the founder of monotheism (believing in one god), and the father of the Jews. God had spoken to him and they concluded the first alliance -between a man and God.
Monotheism-the belief in one god
In The Bible, god promised Abraham that he would make he and his people into a great nation. He also said that he would bless those that blessed Abraham and curse those whom cursed him.
In Genesis chapter 22 God promised the land to Abraham when he was 90 years old. This would make it 1906 BC [Ussher].
It is called the "Covenant"-- the promise Abraham made with God, and God made with Abraham.
Abraham is the father of the Nation of Israel. God promised that He would make a nation from him whose descendants could not be numbered.
Jewish tradition and scripture hold that it was Abraham in approximately 2000 BCE.
