The marriage between Henry VIII and Anne of Cleves was annulled on 9 July 1540, on the grounds of non-consummation and also that she had been promised in marriage previously to Francis of Lorraine.
Henry VIII was disappointed when he first saw Anne, complaining that he had been told she was fair when she was not. He called her the Flanders Mare, and refused to consummate the marriage. But at least Anne received a good settlement, which included Richmond Palace and Hever Castle (Anne Boleyn's old family home).

They secretly married sometime in January 1533 and their was a second public marriage ceremony in London on the 25th Janary 1533.
Henry VIII's second wife was Anne Boleyn, mother of Queen Elizabeth I. Henry didn't need to divorce Boleyn; he simply had her beheaded. More information Anne Boleyn was convicted of treason, witchcraft and incest and was executed by beheading. Most historians believe that these were "trumped up" charges, but she did go through the due process of the law as it stood at the time.
Actually Henry did divorce her first. He wanted to make sure there could be no impediment to his marriage with Jane Seymour. A tribunal very conveniently found that his marriage to Anne was not lawful in the first place. However, as she was being executed for adultery with, among others, her brother, one wonders how she could have committed adultery when legally, she wasn't married. She died on 19th May 1536. Next day, Henry was betrothed to Jane and 9 days after that, they were married. It took Jane Seymour just over 6 weeks to achieve what had taken Anne 6 years - marriage to the King.
