The Marble Cone Fire started by lightning on August 2, 1977. It was two separate Fires, one started on Cone Peak and the other started on Marble peak. At about 15,000 acres they became the Marble Cone Fire. The fire grew to over 200,000 acres and had 3 separate Fire Camps with over 10,000 firefighters. I know cause I was there for 3.5 weeks on the Fire!
