The first spacecraft to visit and explore Jupiter was the Pioneer 10 in 1973. The Pioneer 10 was created by NASA and made in the U.S.
I believe it was the Pioneer 10, sometimes also known as Pioneer F. It was the first spacecraft to complete an interplanetary mission to Jupiter.
No space shuttle has ever gone to Jupiter. The shuttle was only ever designed to bring stuff from Earth into orbit, and sometimes back again.
Voyager 1 reached Jupiter in 1979, and made its closest approach to the planet on March 5, 1979.
There are two, Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11.
The first spacecraft to visit Jupiter was Pioneer 10 in 1973. The craft took the first close up pictures of Jupiter.
The first spacecraft to visit and explore Jupiter was the Pioneer 10 in 1973. The Pioneer 10 was created by NASA and made in the U.S.
Pioneer 10, pioneer 11, Voyager 1, Voyager 2, Galileo, Cassini and New Horizons.
The Pioneer 11 Project refers to the Pioneer spacecraft that traveled past the planets Jupiter and Saturn to gather data about solar winds and interplanetary medium (the space between planets).
There have been 7 NASA space probes that flew by Jupiter: Pioneer 10 Pioneer 11 Voyager 1 Voyager 2 Ulysses Cassini New Horizons
Pioneer 10, in 1973; Pioneer 11, also in 1973; Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 in 1979. For more details, check the Wikipedia article on "Exploration of Jupiter".
Pioneer 11 was launched on April 6, 1973. It began studying and photographing Jupiter on November 3, 1974. Its closest approach to Jupiter was on December 2, 1974, and it left the vicinity on January 1, 1975, having used a gravity assist from Jupiter to alter its trajectory and kick it on its way toward Saturn.
The main ones were the Voyagers. Before that , Pioneer 10 and 11. These were followed by the Galileo probe.
Pioneer 10 was launched in 1972 to explore the solar system. It arrived at Jupiter in December of 1973. The final signal received from Pioneer 10 was in 2003 when it was many millions of miles away from Jupiter.
I believe it was the Pioneer 10, sometimes also known as Pioneer F. It was the first spacecraft to complete an interplanetary mission to Jupiter.
In 1973 Pioneer 10 visisted Jupiter
Jupiter has been visited by 8 spacecraft. These were Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11, Voyager 1 and 2, Galileo, Ulysses, Cassini and New Horizons. The very first mission to explore Jupiter was Pioneer 10, an American spacecraft launched in 1972. This was a true pioneering mission in that, before it left Earth, no one knew whether spacecraft could travel through the asteroid belt between here and Jupiter and survive the trip.
