I think you are asking about the Daisy Red Ryder. The old ones had aluminum cocking levers. In 1947 Daisy stopped using metal levers because of WW!! and changed to aluminum until sometime in the mid 1950's. Plastic cocking levers on pre 1966 models had a warping problem.

A good alternative to using a tire lever when changing a tire is using a strong and sturdy flathead screwdriver.
Daisy has been making the Red Ryder series almost continuously from 1939 to today. The Red Ryder's that have a metal lever action (not plastic) are the most desirable. It is hard to place a value on them because so many were manufactured. They made so many that Daisy stopped issuing serial numbers and started using Batch numbers in 1952 for the Red Ryder models. I'm attaching a link to "Daisy Antique" for you to follow and give them your information. They have more information than anyone else about value and determining the exact model you have. (See the link below.)

One of the first models to feature an aluminum body was the 1938 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith. This innovation marked a significant step in the evolution of automobile manufacturing for the brand.
The main test for aluminum is by using a magnet. Aluminum is not magnetic. If a steel is tested and the magnet clings to it then that is a good indication that it is not aluminum.
