The Romans first invaded Britain in 55 BC under Julius Caesar. He had to withdraw and tried again the next year, but withdrew again. Claudius officially invaded Britain and made it a province in 43 AD. Between these two dates there was an active Roman presence in Britain. The future emperor Vespasian secured a lot of territory and made allies. There were troops and trading colonies in Britain long before Claudius made his "invasion" although the entire island was not subdued. Britain officially became a Roman province in 43 AD.

Should rome invade Britain?

Rome is no longer in a position to invade Britain. The Roman empire conquored and ruled Britain from 43 A.D. to around 430 A.D. Since then the empire has collapsed and the only part of it left is the Italian city bearing the same name. Governmentally Italy is now a Parlimentary Republic under the presidency of Giorgio Napolitano. In terms of military campaigns against (now fellow U.N.) countries Italy has not been aggressive since Mussolini had joined hands with Hitler in WWII. So, in respects to Rome evolving into current day Italy, I will say no, they should invade noone. It is in the best interest of Italy to remain loyal to the bilaws of the European Union.
