what year did smith&wesson start making the s&w40v
1961
I would start my search at Smith and Wesson first.
What is the value of a S&W Model 10, Ser# k342403.I would like to start by saying that the Smith and Wesson model 10 was issued a prefix letter C to its serial number, not the letter K.The letter K was issued to the Smith and Wesson models 14,15,16,17,18,19,48,53,66,67,and model 68.That being said;your Smith and Wesson serial number indicates that your firearm was made in the year 1958,and should be one of the models listed above. The value can be determined if you would identify the correct model and include the overall condition of the handgun in question.
Thye smith&wesson model 28-2 was chambered for the .357 magnum cartridge.I would say Start with the one round that you and the gun shoot best. Then you can experiment on different weight bullet loads. You may also shoot standard .38 special loads in your model 28.
I would require much more info to answer your question. Please start with the fact that I am not aware of any Smith and Wesson serial numbers starting with the letter V.Please include the type of Smith and Wesson you have(revolver,semi-auto pistol),the barrel length, the caliber, how many shot if a pistol, the caliber of your Smith and Wesson etc.I can then start to look and find a answer for you.
Model numbers didn't start unitl @ 1957. It it has one it will be inside the crane area.
Not a valid serial number. The serial number on the 28-2 will start with either an S or an N. That model variant was produced from 1961-1981.
With the serial number starting with a "V", you probably have a S&W Victory model, made at the start of WWII.
Its possible. The lew horten series 27-7 had a BAG prefix and a BNG prefix.the model 27-5 order from Lew Horton had a BPZ prefix.
