Benday dots, which are popular in pop art and are the trademark of Roy Lichtenstein, were invented by an illustrator named Benjamin Day from the United States.
Op Art wasn't specifically 'invented' anywhere although the origins are European. Two of the pioneers in Op Art were Victor Vasarely (considered to be the father of Op Art) who was Hungarian, although he lived for most of his working life in Paris. I'm currently studying Art for GCSE and Still life is our current module. I was wondering if Waves (The Sea) counted as still life. I know in some artists work they have cups of water/liquid but are waves still an aspect of still life?
If you mean a painting of a flower it can be classified as a still life.
In art it would be called a Still Life.
