There were three revolutions in Russia in the first two decades of the 20th Century: the 1905, the February 1917 and the October 1917.
The one that led to the communists coming to power was the October Revolution. It was led by Lenin, Stalin was the editor of Pravda - the party newspaper and a member of the ruling Politburo (like the Cabinet).
The exact date the revolution began was 25th October 1917.
Stalin came to power after Lenin died, in 1924.
