The "Old" Predynastic, or Amratian period, started around 4500 BCE and unification of Egypt seems to have occurred between 3150 and 3110 BCE. So, the very earliest identifiable Egyptain culture began around 7,500 years ago. However, some form of worship would have existed in the region that was to become known as Egypt, many thousands of years earlier.
