Barbie received her body makeover in 2000. She was supposed to look more like a teenager with a smaller bust, no perfectly white teeth, less blonde hair, and a slimmer waist. It seems to me that Mattel just got tired of the "barbie has unrealistic proportions" comments, so they changed her slightly. (before her makeover barbie would have been 6 ft. tall and 101 pounds in real life)

How many different Barbie logos have there been?

Barbie is an American Doll by Mattel that first appeared in 1959 from the creator Ruth Handler who was inspired by the Bild Lilli doll. Dolls have come a long way since being made out of paper with cardboard clothes tabs to fold over the doll onto cloth dolls. Barbie has had more than 130 careers. The Logo has remained the same scrolled writing, although it has been in Black ink and pink. Some of the earlier clothes has Barbie label in black block text. Later clothing models just have a B.

Do barbie dolls give a false image?

Not in any substantive way. There have been numerous studies of the doll claiming that it warps a girl's image of themselves, but ultimately the thing is just a toy. A healthy child will not notice the exaggerated figure of the doll, simply because the child does not have a discrete body image yet. Most children are given their first Barbie doll before the age of six, so they grow up with the doll. A child is aware that an adult has a different body than themselves, so it does not change what the child sees. The body shape of the doll is adult, but it is neutral enough to be what a child sees in her own mother. Another point to consider in the debate over the doll is that it was designed in the 1950's. At that point in time, the doll was not radically different from the fashion models of the time. Those young women had larger breasts and tiny waists and while the doll is somewhat exaggerated, it is more in keeping with the fashion industry of the time. As an historical relic, it is rather accurate. The Mattel Corporation is sensitive to the debate and have made dolls that were more anatomically correct during the course of this debate. Unfortunately, even with all the hubris surrounding this issue, the iconic Barbie doll is the one that children are still given. The "fatter" doll never took off as a selling point. In the end, children will play with what appeals to them. The Barbie doll is an inexpensive toy that lends itself to imagination and fun, and in the end that is what matters.

How many different kinds of Barbie dolls are there?

barbie dolls have blonde hair because it is tradition. the first ever barebie doll to be made had blonde hair so thats where it came from. although, lots of barbie dolls being recently made, have other hair and skin colours. people tend to think of barbie dolls having blonde hair, orange skin n other such things then which they compare some people to, thats why barbie dolls are blonde. also because a lot of people say that beach blonde hair is very attractive this would make a perfect look for the barbie doll.

What is the history of Barbie's?

Barbara Millicent Roberts loved to play with her dolls like every other little girl but instead of the regular baby doll like all the other little children were playing with. Barbara and her friends would play with a more grown up figure. The parents always believed it was good to imagine what the future may hold. When on a trip in Europe they found a lilli doll that was very inspiring for the soon to be barbie doll. Elliot and Ruth the parents created a barbie and then proposed the idea to mattel. When Ruth presented the doll it was an absolute no from all the men at the table. After getting professionals to make clothes for the doll and lots of hard work the doll was allowed to go to the American toy fair of 1959. While most adults didn't approve, the little girls were ALL over the design. In Barbie's first year she was very popular selling for 3 dollars. One of her 3 dollar dolls were recently sold for $17,000. March 9th has recently passed making Barbie 50 years old. People had problems with barbie having a tattoo that says ken because it might provoke children to think that is ok. Some people were offended when the black barbie had white features and some were offended by the phrase "oreo" Some kids had the thought that they should be skinny as barbie making some anorexic. Also in one book by barbie it said to be skinny don't eat. Also Bratz were a BIG threat! So they were sued for 500 million dollars! Ken is Barbie's most well known friend that Barbie has been romantically linked to for a very long time. Midge is a more flawful figure than Barbie's perfect self. Ken and Barbie broke up after 43 years thanks to the new blaine doll coming out.
