Feb.12 of 1964. That was their first American TV performance. The Beatles performed a total of 4 times on The Ed Sullivan Show. There's a DVD collection I recently bought that has all 4 Ed Sullivan Shows where The Beatles performed. I absolutely recommend it!

Correction:
The Beatles actually appeared on February 9th, 1964 which was a Sunday. The Ed Sullivan Show was broadcast on Sunday's, not Wednesday, which was the date of February 12th, 1964.
The Beatles appeared three consecutive weekends, February 9th, February 16th and February 23rd. The last was a taped performance.
