It did not end and still exists today.

Total Comanche tribal enrolment now numbers 15,191 with approximately 7,763 members residing in the Lawton-Ft.Sill and surrounding areas of south-west Oklahoma. The Comanche Nation complex is located nine miles north of Lawton, Oklahoma and employs about one-hundred and forty-five people. The Comanche Nation College at Lawton is a tribal community college offering a range of studies including nursing.

There may have been around 7,000 Comanches at the time of first contact with Europeans and perhaps 45,000 by the late 18th century.
