The International Space Station, or ISS, has been assembled in orbit from parts built here on Earth. The first segments of the ISS were launched into space in 1998, with other parts being added by several Space Shuttle missions. The ISS is not yet complete, and more parts are still under construction.
Construction of the ISS originally began in November of 1998, with completion originally scheduled for 2003. Obviously, this is not true, with a heavily modified schedule putting completion now at 2011.
The are reusable space exploration tools, and they are used for satellite repairs and ISS construction.
Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavor have visited the ISS. Challenger (which was destroyed before the beginning of ISS construction) and Enterprise (which was a flight test vehicle and not space-worthy) have visited the International Space Station. Columbia was slated to visit the ISS on STS-118 but was destroyed on reentry and this mission was flown by Endeavour instead.
The ISS began construction in 1998, so (as of 2009) it is about 11 years old.
The first segment of the ISS (Zarya) was launched on 20 November, 1998.

Start by dividing the word up into : "Iss-a-char"Then, :-pronounce 'Iss' as in "Miss' but without the M as in '[M]iss'- 'a' as in the 'u' in 'but'-'char' as if it is spelt 'car' but pronounce it with a gutteral 'c' as in 'kar'Last but not least, put the stress on the first syllable ie on 'Iss'
First of all, the international space station was not launched. The first part was launched but all the other parts of the iss were put on by astronauts in space shuttle missions the construction began in 1998. By 2000 people were able to live on the iss. As they lived they attached parts. The construction was complete in 2011. Soo yeah it was not really launched. I hope I helped:)

The construction of Stonehenge took several centuries, but the start of the construction is most likely near 3100 BC.
