the battle for the Falkland Islands
The Falkland War in 1982 involved Argentina and England. Argentina laid claim to the Falkland Islands, however, so did the British. Like Central Cyprus, Andorra, and Gibraltar, there was a strong British presence on the Falkland Islands. When the Argentina invaded, the British were successful in pushing them back and holding on to the islands.
No. The UK's policy is that the island and the islanders are British citizens, and there is no one to give the island 'back' to.

Falkland & Cape VerdeEast of Argentina are the ISLAS MALVINAS (Falkland in English), Cape Verde are very far away, much futher north, close to the coast of Africa.Other islands: Isla de los Estados, east of Tierra del Fuego Island, and the southern Atlantic islands of Southern Georgias. They're called Las Islas Malvinas but that's what they call it in South America, since the british rudely toke them from Argentina and now they're called the Falkland Islands... idiots. I'd like get them from the brits back to the argies but it'd be a bit weird if France randomly started a war against Britain cuz of that.
Argentina went to war with the United Kingdom in 1982 for control over the Falklands Islands, (Malvinas). The Argentine junta did not expect a military response from Britain who was seen, in the wake of the loss of empire, to be a broken back power. However the forceful response of the Thatcherite government, and the application of superior naval power, liberated the islands and ultimately brought by Galtieri's government.
The military government in Buenos Aires assessed the situation correctly. Despite their knocking out of several British warships, they could not hold the islands unless the British Navy was defeated. Although neither side gained true air superiority in this war, the Falklands (or Malvinas as the Argentines called them) could not be reinforced and the British could not be repulsed. Argentina threw in the towel and ceded the islands back to Great Britain.
Once upon a time the British owned a little strip of islands, and within this community of islanders they hated the British. Now, it is well known that the islanders tried to grow their own crops, but the British would end up finding out and bombing the fields. When Argentina found out about this, they were very mad. In the end Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands and tried to stop the madness. Because of this the British fought back and thus the Falkland's war.
The history of the Falkland Islands goes back at least five hundred years, with active exploration and colonisation only taking place in the 18th century.
Great Britain is a large island which is made of England, Wales and Scotland. Together with Northern Ireland, these make up the United Kingdom.
For the current 2013 tour that The Eagles are on, it does not look like they will be touring in Great Britain. There is no information about when they will be back in Great Britain on tour.
