One factor that helped the US become a super power after World War Two was the fact that her allies, and enemies had seen their industrial power destroyed by the war. For the most part, the war left North America, including the US, with a strong manufacturing and agricultural base. Also, the US still had a large standing army still in place. Another factor was that for a few years, the US was the only nation with the Atomic bomb.
