Determined to go into effect at 11 AM on November 11 - the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. 3.) Two minutes before the armistice came into effect a final Canadian soldier was killed by a German sniper. 4.) To many Germans, including Hitler, the German negotiators who signed the armistice were known as the "November Criminals." 5.) The armistice lasted 30 days. 6.) The agreement called for an immediate end to the fighting along the entire Western Front. 7.) It had been known unofficially for two days in advance that the fighting would end on November 11. 8.) The peace between the Allies and Germany would subsequently be settled by the conference in Paris, and the Treaty of Versailles that same year. 9.) The terms included major points such as the withdrawal of German troops from Beligum, France, Alsace-Lorraine to the west and a retreat to the original territorial boundaries in the east. . 10.)
