Oil drilling often occurs on the seabed, that is, the very bottom of the ocean.
Offshore drilling takes place in various bodies of water, primarily in continental shelf areas of oceans and seas. Major regions for offshore drilling include the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea, and the coastlines of countries like Brazil, Nigeria, and Australia. These sites are typically selected for their potential oil and gas reserves beneath the seabed. Drilling operations can occur at varying depths, from shallow waters to deep offshore locations.
It takes place from the project approval to closeout.
Project Mohole took place in the deep ocean offshore of Guadalupe Island, about 200 miles off the coast of Baja California, Mexico. The aim of the project was to drill through the Earth's crust to reach the mantle beneath the oceanic crust.

Yes of course. Photosynthesis need light to take place. Light does not reach very deep.
Drilling to the center of the Earth is a theoretical concept since no drilling project has come close to reaching such depths. The Earth's core is about 3,960 miles (6,371 kilometers) deep. The deepest humans have drilled is about 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) with the Kola Superdeep Borehole, which took over 20 years to complete. If one could theoretically drill straight down at a consistent pace, it would take many decades, if not centuries, to reach the center.

Project authorization is when a formal authorization for a project to take place has been given. The authorization will give perimeters for the work that is to be done and the time frame.
