cons: negative emotional effect on children, some of the foster families could have just been doing it for the money and treated the children badly, a big cultural shock between the countryside children and the evacuees, they weren't sure if they'd have a home or a family to come back to they wouldn't grow up with their parents alot of the 'first wave' children came back becfore christmas because of home sickness and the phoney war pros: some of the poorer evacuees got alot healthier and learnt manners, they were safe from bombs, it was a new experience, for alot of them it was like 'going on an adventure'
The men were told that the war was going to be over by Christmas and that when they go home they will be heroes and they would come back very rich and famous. Also, young men like the idea of marching around in smart uniforms, going abroad (most of them had never left their homeland in their lives), fathers wanted to leave their responsibilities as fathers and husbands and have an adventure. Furthermore, men that stayed behind were handed white handkerchiefs and feathers by young girls which is a sign of cowardice Contrary to what they were promised (the war would be short and they would come back rich), the war took four years before it was over and when the men that hadn't died or ran away came back their families rejected them and they were forced to live on the streets. They couldn't get jobs because either they had amputated limbs so they couldn't work or they were mentally damaged so they couldn't think straight
Gather all your weapons, come together, and take it back.
The Spartan men were takin from there mothers at the age of 7 to start training for the Army. When they were 30 they were able to come home to there family but if they were told they need to serve they had to. When they became 60 years of age they retired from the Army if they made it to that age.

Yes, Mother's Day is in May in the US, and March in the UK, Father's day in June.
Spartan mothers and wives gave their men their shield before they went to war and told them "with your shield or on it." In other words, come back alive with your shield, never having run in panic from the enemy, or come back on it, dead.
His fathers family came from Wexford, in the south east of Ireland and he came to visit the place they came from. His mothers family was from Limerick but he did visit that part of Ireland
Their mothers wont come back to help them find food and then they'll die
I suppose to clean and repair it. There is a story that before battle, Spartan mothers told their sons to either come back victorious or come back carried on their shield.{Spartan mothers would give their sons the shield with the words "Return with it or carried on it!" }
