The Global Surveyor was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida on November 7, 1996. It began surveying and mapping Mars from orbit, in March 1998.

The "Face" on Mars that was captured by early space probe Viking 1 in 1976, was again captured by NASA's Mars Global Surveyor in 1998, using HD cameras. It shows that it's just a natural rock mesa formation. You can view a HD pic of it at the link below.

The Viking Space Probe was actually two different probes. Viking 1 and Viking 2 were used to explore Mars. The probes took photographs, did experiments and deployed instruments to the surface of Mars.
The aircraft that have been sent to Venus are the Pioneer Venus 1 (1978), the Pioneer Venus 2, and the Magellan probe (1989). The aircraft sent to Mars were Viking 1, Viking 2 (1975), the Mars Global Surveyor (1996), the Mars Exploration rovers (2003), The Phoenix lander (2007-08), and the rover Curiosity (2011). The aircraft sent to Mercury include Messenger (2004), and the Mariner 10.
The two missions to Mars that ended in failure are the Mars Climate Orbiter in 1999, which crashed due to a navigation error, and the Mars Polar Lander in 1999, which likely crashed during its descent.
NASA's voyager probe is the only probe sent to explore Uranus on 24th January,1986. A proposed probe known as Herschel Orbital Reconnaissance of the Uranian System by Applied Physics Lab of John Hopkins University is likely to be launched in 2021 for exploration of Uranus.
The mars global surveyor encountered many complications. On November 2, 2006, NASA lost contact with the spacecraft after commanding it to adjust its solar panels. A few days later a signal was transmitted to NASA confirming the space craft was in safe mode. NASA believes the space craft had battery shortage. but the truth will never be accounted. Sandra Cuellar
