∙ 9y agoThe first iPod was released on October 23, 2001. It was the first generation iPod Classic and it had a 5GB hard drive. The second and third generation iPod Classics came out in APril 2002 and July 2003, respectively.
In 2004, Apple released the first generation iPod Mini and the fourth generation iPod Classic. This was the year that iPods became extremely popular; the previous generations were expensive and worked only with Mac computers.
