because they were made in NZ and every one still loves them and wears them lots and that is why gumboots are an icon to NZ. they are used in farms too
Mostly because it is indigenous only to NZ, the colours of an opal effect makes it unique, thus giving anyone who wears or uses it a link to NZ.
