1941. The Mongolians staged it against the Nazis. German tanks flattened it in less than 90 seconds.
The 19th Hussars charge at Brancourt on 8 October 1918 with just one month remaining in WW-1 may be the final horse mounted event in the Great War. It certainly wasn't the end of horses in the military. The US 2nd Cavalry finally dismounted in 1944. In WW-2 several nations still had and used mounted Cavalry. Notable among them were the Poles in the defense of their homeland, the Russian Cossacks, and the Italians. In the Phillipenes the US 26th Cavalry mounted a charge against Japanese Forces on Luzon on 16 January 1942. The Sikh Sowars of the British Front Force Cavalry also fought the Japanese on 21 March 1942 in Burma.
A lightning rod is grounded, meaning it connects to the ground, and the ground is the last place the charge flows to. It is absorbed into the planet Earth.
The household cavalry still use horses to this day though they be for ceremony's only.
The US 26th Cavalry (Horse) fought the LAST "Horse Cavalry Action" (against Japanese tanks) in the Philippines in 1942. Congress no longer authorized the US Cavalry (Horse) at the end of '42.
Take Charge Indy because he injured himself during the race.
The cavalry, as a distinct branch of military service, began to decline in importance with the advent of mechanized warfare in the early 20th century. While some cavalry units were disbanded after World War I, others continued to serve in various capacities throughout the interwar period and into World War II. By the mid-20th century, traditional mounted cavalry was largely disbanded, with the last remnants effectively transitioning into armored or mechanized units. The U.S. Army officially disbanded its last horse cavalry units in 1954.
Destroyer of Worlds.
In the US, prior to 1942, the US Cavalry was a mounted arm (horse units). It's missions were to exploit gaps made in enemy lines, conduct screening/security, and reconnaissance missions. The last US Horse Cavalry unit to fight from horse back was the US 26th Cavalry, which attacked Japanese light tanks in the Philippines during WWII in 1942. Congress officially de-activated (retired) the US Cavalry (Horse) in 1926. Post 1942, armor (tanks) have replaced the horse cavalry.
