I believe that F trumpets were used most widely in the late Classical/early Romantic periods (1800~1900).
Trumpets can be tuned to several different keys. The most common type is the B♭ trumpet, but low F, C, D, E♭, E, G and A trumpets are also available.

If you are in the key of F then your song should end on an F chord.
Yes, trumpets are still a standard instrument in an orchestra or band.
Most trumpets are in the key of B-flat.
If you mean "reeds" no, trumpets do no use reeds. Some woodwind instruments use reeds, like the saxophone, clarinet, and oboe.

Depends how you finger the f horn. Horn can use any fingerings that mellophone can, but not the other way around. This is because the overtone series of the horn is an octave below that of the mellophone. ~ Adding onto that, mellowphones use the same fingerings as trumpets. Generally, the fingerings are the same as the F horn fingerings an octave lower, but not always.
The do in the key of F major is F.
