the ootheca will usually hatch in the spring when it is warm, the warmer it is the faster they will develope. Make sure it has baby mantids in it, if it doesnt, then it will most likely be darker and light weight and smaller. Remember that the egg case needs about a 40% of humidity level, so be sure, if you are keeping one to hatch yourself, that you spray or mist it with water. Put it in a empty bottle or a jar by attaching it to the top. If they are outside, just leave them where they are and order one online, that is best. Hope this helped.
