actually YES dogs can lose their hair/fur during pregnancy or after birth of puppies due to stress, hormones, etc....my pitbull lost some of her hair after puppies were born...they are 1 month old now...but dont worry they will grow their hair back after a few months!...i know quite a few dogs that have lost their hair after giving birth...but u might want to bring your dog to a Vet regardless because it also can be from ticks, ring worms, etc.

No. The dog has genes for long hair and cutting the dogs hair does not change the dogs genes. Any puppies the has may have short hair it depends on the genetics of the father of the puppies.
