There is no simple answer to that. The Irish go to primary school from 4 to 12 years old, to secondary school from 12 to 18 years old, after which some may go to college. When they finish, will depend on the length of the course they do. They could be doing courses for as little as 1 year or up to 6 or 7 years. So if they go to college straight after secondary school, many people will be in their early to mid 20s when they leave college. There are also people who go to college when they are older, as mature students. The academic year usually starts for colleges in September or October and runs until May or June.
