Then in the second movie Indiana Jones: The Temple of Doom at the begining Indiana trades a small diamond to a Chinese mobster. Then later in the movie Indiana, Willie, and Shortround go after three sacred golden rocks of eternal luck. And in the third movie The Last Crusade Indiana and his associate go after a tombstone in the heart of the Italian Sewers. After recovering it turns out to be part of a map leading to the Holy Grail, the cup of eternal life. Probably the next well known after Harrison Ford is River Phoenix. River played a teen version of Indiana Jones in The Last Crusade.During the early 1990s, there was a television show, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Indiana Jones was played by Sean Patrick Flanery and Corey Carrier for the younger years. George Hall played a much older version in the same show.

One popular 1980's adventure TV show similar to Indiana Jones was "Tales of the Gold Monkey." It aired for only one season from 1982 to 1983 and followed the adventures of a pilot named Jake Cutter in the South Pacific during the 1930s. The show featured exotic locations, treasure hunting, and a sense of swashbuckling adventure reminiscent of the Indiana Jones franchise. Despite its short run, "Tales of the Gold Monkey" has developed a cult following among fans of adventure television.
