Just depends on your needs and lifestyle, or that of a business needs. If want the freedom of walking around your house with the laptop and still being able to print if you want to, then wireless home network is for you. If you prefer to keep all of your equipment in one area then go with DSL. Look at it this way, if you have a large house and want to roam get wireless, if you have a small apt. then get DSL.

Both are use for home and small businesses,Both Wireless and wired networking reliable and give better performance when data sharing. today all company's prefer wireless networking it's reduce wires and give speed when data sharing.

When one wishes to implement wired networking is when speed and/or security are important. Wire speed will always outpace wireless speed. This is because there is less chance of interference, need for retransmission, and the fact that the digital signal is being broadcast straight down the wire rather than having to be converted to a radio signal and then back to a digital signal again. This all saves time and allows faster response when the transmission is received. Wired will also always be more secure because the only way to get access to the data in a wired connection is to have physical access to the cable and chances are that if someone has access to the cable, that someone will be noticed very quickly, especially in a small office or home environment.

The reason for using wireless networking most of all is for convenience. It is not an optimal solution for moving data, playing online games, running web seminars (though attending them is fine), or acting as a server (whether as a local file server or web server). The convenience is great for homes in which the user will take his laptop or tablet or other device from room to room or maybe out on the deck to enjoy the summer sun while reading the online newspaper or checking his email. In the office environment, it can be useful as well for offering wireless internet access to consultants, clients, or staff for whom a wired connection is less desirable or impractical. The problem with wireless, though, is that the signal does not stop where the walls of the home or office do. Being radio signals, they are omnidirectional and have the potential to reach out about a football field's length away from the router or access point, wherever it is placed within the building. Thus, to keep things secure, one must--at a minimum--use a good encryption algorithm with preference given to WPA2 and a hard to guess passcode for that encryption. Ideally there would be further levels of security placed on the wireless network such as being accessible only on a certain daily schedule and only to a certain number of users at the same time, set per-user speed limitations (to help ensure no one tries to use the wireless network for downloading torrents or otherwise wasting resources for inappropriate purposes), etc.

One might also wish to have a merged network with both wired and wireless and this is the most common configuration nowadays. In most homes, the desktop computer is wired but the printer, cellular phone, tablet, and laptop are all wireless. The same is true with offices. The static desktop machines are wired as are the network printers but the laptops, tablets, and even some of the IP phones may be wireless.

What a person chooses for his network design is partly personal choice and partly practicality. However, the most practical network and best choice is the one that works best for the user.

The wired or wireless means of connecting a computer to the internet is called?

The wired or wireless means of connecting a computer to the internet is called networking. The wired network uses cables while the wireless one relies on signal transmissions without cables.

Is wireless networking faster than traditional networking configuration?

Depends on your wireless protocol vs your physical port speed. But typically, a wired connection is best if connecting to the same router.

Why would you use wired networking to connect your computer?

Wired networking provides you with speeds up to 1,000Mbps where Wireless N tops out around 300Mbps. Wired also provides the end user with more security as your information is not being transmitted wirelessly. It is easier for people to gain access to your network through wireless.
