If the word you are making into a possessive ends in s because it is a plural, then you add an apostrophe after the s to make it possessive. In all other cases, including words which end in s for any reason other that because they are plurals, you add an apostrophe and the s.

Which genotype are possible for offspring of a carrier Ss and a person who looks the sickle-cell allele SS?

The possible genotypes for the offspring of a carrier (Ss) and a person who is homozygous for the sickle-cell allele (SS) are SS and Ss. This is because the carrier can pass on either the S or the s allele, while the SS parent can only pass on the S allele. Therefore, the offspring could either inherit SS (homozygous sickle-cell) or Ss (heterozygous carrier).
