Eucalyptus trees flower at different times of the year, depending on the species. One can almost virtually find a flowering gum somewhere in any month of the year. For example:

  • The Grey Box (Eucalyptus microcarpa) flowers from February to May, usually every second year.
  • The Yellow Box (Eucalyptus melliodora) flowers from November to February, also usually every second year.
  • The Red Box (Eucalyptus polyanthemus) flowers from September to November, either every year or every second year, depending on the individual trees and their locality.
  • The River red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensus) flowers only from December to January, every second year.
  • The Messmate (Eucalyptus obliqua) is less predictable. While it usually flowers from January to February, it has been known to flower also in March, May, June, September, October and December.
