If a school is split, having both middle and high school, those in 6th through 8th grade are in Junior High and those in 9th through 12th are in high school.
Generally, high school starts at the 9th grade which is also known as the Freshman grade.
Basically you would start high school when your a ninth grader but you can start from eighth grade, seventh grade or sixth grade! Parents don't usually don't send their child to high school when there in sixth grade because they would have to take their GCSE's early, but it will be too hard for them. And they would only be around the ages ten to eleven.

∙ 15y agoIn the United States, high school is generally considered the last four years of secondary education (i.e. grades 9 through 12). In some school districts, students in grade 9 are located at a middle school or junior high school, but grade 9 is still technically a part of high school in terms of transcripts, grades, etc.
