It's an oil, so water can't do much to break it down. Happened to me. I flushed liberally with olive oil. Any harmless oil will do. It will dilute the essential oil. Then wash with a mild soap. The soap will break down the oil, stinging less than the oil, but will wash everything out more easily and sting less. Water will then flush all that away. Another method is milk or yogurt. The milk fats will break down the oil as well.
