He's stopped moving for quite some time now, so I think it's appropriate to ask "When did Shakespeare return to Stratford?" We do not have any clear evidence, but there is every reason to believe that Shakespeare did make short trips to Stratford to visit his family throughout his career. He moved back there permanently around 1613 when he retired, possibly for health reasons. Even after moving back, he returned to London from time to time for business reasons.
