A cell can be described as being homozygous for a particular gene when there are identical genes on a pair of chromosomes (humans have 23 pairs). Under these conditions, we would see the expression of the gene under the homozygous condition. If the cell had a heterozygous condition, then there would not be identical genes found in the chromosome pair.
After the f1generation
There is dominant and there is recessive. There is no dominant recessive. A dominant gene will always be expressed when present, such as in the homozygous dominant genotype (RR), or heterozygous genotype (Rr). A recessive allele is only expressed when the genotype is homozygous recessive (rr).
Genotype is the organism's full heredity information that may or may not be expressed. Actual observed properties are the phenotype. The phenotype is dependent on the genotype. Genes are homozygous when the same allele (form of the gene) inherited from both parents is the same. When different forms of the same gene are inherited from parents, they are heterozygous. Dominance refers to the relation between alleles of a gene. When two alleles of a gene combine, the dominant one then determines the trait that is expressed. In order for a recessive trait to be expressed, both alleles need to be recessive.
at the q gene the genotype is homozygous.
The name of the gene pair that consists of a dominant and recessive allele, i.e. (Xx) will be a heterozygous allele. In this situation, the characteristics of the dominant characteristic will mask that of the recessive allele. People have have a heterozygous genotype may be carriers for diseases that reside on the recessive allele.
homozygous
A dominant gene is always expressed if present, and the recessive gene is only expressed with the homozygous recessive genotype. For example, if the dominant gene is red (represented by the letter R) and the recessive gene is white (represented by the letter r), then a homozygous dominant organism's genotype will be RR, and its phenotype will be red. If the organism is homozygous recessive, then the genotype will be rr and the phenotype will be white. If the organism is heterozygous, then the genotype will be Rr, and the organism will be red.

Co-dominance.
not usually, most books fit into the normal genres: mystery, fiction, nonfiction, adventure etc. I believe this person is referring to "genes," not "genres." To answer the question, then: yes, you can have genes that are not expressed. Recessive genes, for example, will not be expressed in heterozygous individuals; they will only be expressed in homozygous recessive individuals. For example; if you have the genotype Aa, the recessive gene - "a" - will not be expressed because the genotype contains a dominant allele, and the dominant allele will always be the one expressed. The only way that the "a" allele will be expressed is, again, if you are homozygous for that recessive gene (your genotype would be aa).

homozygous dominant, heterozygous, or homozygous recessive
homozygous organisms
at the q gene the genotype is homozygous.
A cell is said to be homozygous for a particular gene when identical alleles of the gene are present on both homologous chromosomes.
homozygous(different gene)-Rr heterozygous(same gene)-RR,rr
the organism that have two identical alleles would be called homozygous for that particular gene.
