Normally most vehicles with power door locks will have them lock when the vehicle is put into gear. In your owners manual, it will tell you the options of your Nissan Maxima. Stop by the dealership , talk to the service manager about how your vehicle is supposed to work . You may need repairs to your door locks or they do not have the option of locking.
