It means that you are misinterpreting what you are seeing. That isn't grease.
You do not have what is called a gimble bearing on a Volvo 280 drive, they are called gimble bearings on 290 and latter drives. The difference being that gimble bearings both bearings can be removed from the drive side after the upper drive assembly is removed. On a 280 you unfortunatly have what is called intermediate bearings where the aft one comes out the drive side, and the other comes out the engine side. If you have bad bearings, the engine has to be pulled to remove the engine side bearing. To grease the u joints (gimble) you would need to remove the upper drive assembly off the outdrive. unclamp the bellow and remove the upper drive along with the U joints. You can then grease the U joints. There is a zerk fitting on the bell housing that allows you to grease the intermediate bearings, but I was told not to do this as it could blow out the seals and cause more problems than it solves.
As long as the engine is not overheating, this is normal for a radiator to do. The heat comes from the engine on the driver's side, and exits to the engine on the lower passenger side.
To hold it in place give in a touch of (clean) grease. The grease will usually hold it long enough for you to mount you fuel pump.
The inner side of the grease seal is supposed to be facing out. If the outer side of the grease seal faces out then it needs to be properly put back in the correct way.
in most grease guns there is a cartridge. this cartridge is removed by unscrewing the grease gun part from the body. The handle can be pulled back and locked to one side. remove the old paper cartridge and replace it with the new one that you have purchased from NAPA or Auto Zone. Grease comes in a variety of flavors so depending on what you are doing chose the correct grease for that purpose

That's the side that takes fuel to the engine. "In" comes from the fuel tank.
Grease was not a book before it was a movie or a musical.
It is in the exhaust pipe where it comes off of the engine on the passanger side.
